Zania Design, technological innovation for the kitchens of the future.

Zania Design, the manufacturer of high-end kitchens, together with the cutting-edge restaurants El Celler de Can Roca, Disfrutar BCN, and Enigma Concept, and the restaurant chain UDON, are participating in the design of the kitchens of the future.

Through the TANGIBLE project, Zania Design, together with other companies selected by the CENFIM cluster, has combined electronic innovation with product design to facilitate the digital transformation of professional and domestic kitchens.

This project has integrated new technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (artificial intelligence) into kitchen products, which will serve to drive radical improvements in the functionality of these spaces, enhancing the quality of the experience for people who use the kitchen. 

As a partner in this project, Zania Design has been essential in executing the digitization of furniture in a high-end kitchen.

Technological applications 

During the project, Zania Design integrates these new technologies through a mechanization process that allows the materials to retain their usual properties and qualities. 

In particular, the following features have been activated via the surface of a real Corian countertop from Zania Design:

• the presentation of information via an alphanumeric display hidden inside the surface material itself
• detection of user actions by proximity and contact with the material,
• weighing food from a specific area of the countertop and,
• Finally, the management of different smart devices located in the immediate vicinity of this piece of furniture (specifically, a smart faucet and a smoke extractor). 

Prototype testing and demonstration

During November and December, the demonstrator has been moved to a leading gastronomic innovation space in Catalonia, where it will be on display and tested for several weeks.

During 2023, the TANGIBLE project will be present at theInterihotel Madrid 2022 trade fair, Europe's leading event for hotel and restaurant interior design organized by the CENFIM cluster, where a workshop will be held to provide interior design studios and restaurant space managers with tips and recommendations that will guide the design of R&D kitchens in the coming years.
